As I post these I will try to supply scores, since most readers are unlikely to have access to books containing them.

Copyrights

What sort of copyrights/licenses do these songs have? That'll help a lot for those venturing to use them. (Don't forget to mention that on each article.) Veramet 18:31, 27 July 2007 (MDT)

The two that I have posted so far (Doksologio and Batal-Himno (Beatty)) are, I am quite sure, in the public domain. I have had them posted over on Wikipedia (where there are lots of copyright-crazy editors, not all of whom are sympathetic to Esperanto ;-) ) for months and there has been no objection. The dates of first publication are 1907 for the one and either 1920 or possibly 1921 for the other. It is my belief that both composers intended their tunes to be publically accessible from the outset. If anyone tries to sue you for using them, please ask them to include me as a defendant... One last thing that could, depending on jurisdiction, bear on the issue is the composers' date of death. Rust died in 1927. I do not know when Beatty died. --Haruo 18:40, 27 July 2007 (MDT)

Ah yes - if it's not mentioned otherwise, public domain on HymnWiki only refers to the United States (other jurisdictions require specific mentioning). See Public Domain for that. That might seem kind of biased . . . and I hate to do that, but it's a relatively simple way to do things, it seems, and avoids a lot of needing to specify for many public domain issues so far.
