Hymn 185 L.M. 1. Behold the mount of Olives rend! And on its top Messiah stand, His chosen Israel to defend, And save them with a mighty hand. 2. The mountains sink, the valleys rise And all the land becomes a plain, He brings deliverance to the Jews, While all their enemies are slain. 3. But lo! what pen can paint the scene, His wounded hands and side they see! Where once the nails and spear had been; This our Messiah? Can it be? 4. Whence then these wounds? ah who has pierced Our great Deliverer's heart and hands? These are the wounds I once received, Amid my kindred and my friends. 5. Thus the Messiah stands revealed, And they their blessed Deliverer own; They're humbled when at last they find Jesus, Messiah, both are one. 6. Like Joseph's brethren now they mourn, And humbly own a Saviour slain - They crown him king on David's throne, That o'er the nations he may reign.
