John Cyprian Rust was a priest in the Church of England who was one of the earliest writers of Christian hymnody in Esperanto. One of his original works, for which he composed both the lyrics and the music, was the doxology (incipit: Estu nun laŭdata Dio", tune name Doksologio) that appeared in the Ordo de Diservo, 1907, the earliest Esperanto compilation containing Christian hymns. He was also involved in the translation of the New Testament into Esperanto (published 1912).
