Shouldn't "feel free to edit it and change it, but please don't be kind to the other authors" read "feel free to edit it and change it, but please be kind to the other authors"? I mean, you didn't mean to encourage us to be mean to each other, did you ;-) - I would simply edit this line, except I wonder if maybe it was intentional and I just don't understand the angle from which it is meant to be read...
