Ann E. Beatty was the compiler/translator of Espero Internacia, ca. 1920, the first significant Esperanto-language hymnal published in the United States. She also wrote more than a dozen original hymns/songs in Esperanto, which are included in her hymnal set to tunes of her own composition. Her tune Batal-Himno (Beatty), composed for her translation of the Battle Hymn of the Republic, is apparently the only extant case where she composed a tune for a translation rather than using the tune already associated with the original.
