Lyrics
- Poet: verses 1-2, anonymous, 1796; verse 3, Edward Osler (1798–1863), 1836
- This hymn is erroneously attributed to at least three individuals: Bishop Richard Mant (1776–1848)[1], John Kempthorne (1775–1838) [2], 1810, and Thomas Coram[3]. Note that it was not known to have been published in 1796, but rather is was inserted into a 1796 compilation (Foundling Chapel Collection, AKA Foundling Hospital Collection), although it was certainly published soon afterward. It is also said to have come from one Dublin Collection and a Liverpool Collection, although dates of publication need verification.

Lyrics from The Endeavor Hymnal for Young People’s Societies Sunday Schools and Church Prayer Meetings (published before 1923)
1. Praise the Lord: ye heav’ns, adore Him; Praise Him, angels in the height. Sun and moon, rejoice before Him; Praise Him, all ye stars of light. Praise the Lord, for He hath spoken; Worlds His mighty voice obeyed. Laws which never shall be broken For their guidance He hath made. 2. Praise the Lord, for He is glorious; Never shall His promise fail. God hath made His saints victorious; Sin and death shall not prevail. Praise the God of our salvation; Hosts on high, His pow’r proclaim. Heav’n and earth and all creation, Laud and magnify His Name. 3. Worship, honor, glory, blessing, Lord, we offer unto Thee. Young and old, Thy praise expressing, In glad homage bend the knee. All the saints in heav’n adore Thee; We would bow before Thy throne. As Thine angels serve before Thee, So on earth Thy will be done.

- Swedish title: Himlar, gifven Herren ära

- Note: This does not seem to include the Osler verses.
1. Himlar, gifven Herren ära, Englar, sjungen högt hans pris. Sol och måne, mån I bära Honom lof hvar på ert vis! 2. Stjernor, tindrande i ljuset, Verldar, under af hans hand, Men’skor, I som bon i gruset, Prisen Gud i alla land. 3. Prisen honom för hans lagar, Aldrig felar hvad han sagt; Han är trofast alla dagar, Synd och död han nederlagt. 4. Himlar, jord och allt, hvad under! Det är vordet på hans bud. Prisen honom alla stunder— Kungars konung, verldars Gud.
